Born as a rebel sartorial movement against pretentious high-class society, the grunge style has truly come a long way – now very ironically big in high fashion. Believable so, because the trend is easy to love; it’s simple to pull off, has oodles of attitude and is super comfy to boot. Ripped jeans, oversized flannel shirts, band tees, combat boots, all traditional touchstones of the trend, are now back with a major reboot courtesy our favourite celebrities (think Alexa Chung, Cara Delevigne, Kate Moss, Kendall Jenner) and of course, designer runways.
The grunge of today is a stylish blend of luxe with low-brow - feminine paired with a lot of androgynous, and structure versus deconstruction. Oversized military jackets, leather skinnies and boots all the way – take a cue from these stylish ladies to do new-age grunge like (Cobain’s) boss.
